Contract employees are ineligible.
** ** This position report into the office located at 106 North Maple Ave, Covington, VA.
** Assists UI benefit recipients who are RESEA eligible to overcome significant barriers to employment (SBE) and obtain suitable employment.
Prior to RESEA enrollment, conducts a screening and triage of claimants selected by the RESEA District Coordinators for services; ensures they meet program requirements and are prepared for the Initial RESEA session; assesses readiness for job search and reemployment; and reviews VWC profile to ensure completion of required elements and posting of a draft resume.
Communicates findings to the client in a timely manner, provides assistance and information on available Workforce Services opportunities, models a “SMART” job search plan, and provides referrals to resume writing workshops or other supportive services based on the client's needs.
Verifies client's employment status at time of contact to ensure eligibility.
Documents all findings and workforce services in VWC for use by the RESEA Specialist; reports potential issues impacting eligibility for UI or RESEA participation in VUIS; and maintains contact with the participants through employment to document outcomes and facilitate additional reemployment services, as deemed appropriate.
Provides administrative support, responds to inquiries, orders supplies, handles filing and mail, preparing correspondence, assembling materials, etc.
Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of the RESEA Program and UI laws, policies, and procedures; Workforce Center and community resources; career counseling and job placement principles and techniques; tools, and training resources (including certifications, apprenticeships and OTJ training opportunities).
Strong customer service, oral and written communication, organizational, and computer skills (Microsoft Office Professional or 360, or comparable software programs).
Ability to work with clients to identify needs and enhance employability skills; interact effectively with partners and clients; conduct interviews and obtain information; analyze and report data; assess and match client skills to open positions; apply program standards and procedures; and provide administrative support.
Additional Considerations Experience providing administrative support and excellent customer service.
Experience working with agency programs, particularly related to RESEA and/or UI; performing job and career counseling services; and/or working in related employment and training programs.
