Under the supervision and direction of the Nurse, performs various duties assisting unit staff nurses and clerical specialists to ensure unit operations and safe patient care following established procedures.
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit or within his/her department.
Must be able to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures.
Assists with transports and is responsible for the safe transportation of non-ambulatory patients to and from medical facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains the patient environment in a clean, safe, orderly and functional manner according to safety and infection control standards.
Receives admissions; participates in the admission triage process, as assigned.
Accurately documents admission assessment with data collected.
Accurately registers patients including obtaining signed consent, documenting demographic information, and scanning appropriate cards (insurance card, ID, etc.
).
Reports any changes observed in condition/behavior of patient to the registered nurse.
When appropriate, records these changes in the medical record.
REQUIREMENTS
Current VA Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or higher (required)
Current BLS certification (required)
Current EVOC certification (required)
Clean driving record from DMV (required)
Minimum age 21 (required)
Previous transportation and/or Emergency Room experience (preferred)
ACLS and PALS Certification (preferred)
