Referral Coordinator

The role of the Referral Coordinator is to assist with connecting our patients to services not provided by New Horizons Healthcare.
These can be referrals to specialty practices, diagnostic imaging, mammograms, home health, etc.
Qualifications: Previous Medical Office experience required.
EMR/EHR experience required.
Ability to multi-task and work independently in a busy, fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail Ability to secure access to EMR/EHR for Carilion and Lewis Gale Responsibilities include: Processing a high volume of referral requests daily.
Processing a high volume of requests for diagnostic studies daily.
Obtaining prior authorizations for studies when necessary.
Prioritizing STAT requests based on need and urgency.
Communicating appointment information to patients via telephone or letters.
Closing the referral loop by following up on scheduled referrals and diagnostic studies through a variety of means (EMR research, phone calls, letters, etc.
).
Cross training medical records duties (FAX server and Release of Information).
Other duties as specified by supervisor.
This position reports to the Patient Experience Director.
