gov Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties Contributes to the agency’s public safety mission by developing, planning and directing the institution’s recreation program including interaction with the Medical Department and the Treatment Team to provide therapeutic leisure time activities, any physical therapy assistance to the assisted living inmate population, as well as general population inmates with specified targeted needs.
Manages facilities and equipment use.
Ensures equipment is available and working, schedules recreation activities, and assigns and reviews work of inmate crews.
Supervises inmates during recreation periods Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.
Skilled in planning, implementing, coordinating recreational activities.
Demonstrated ability to adapt recreation programs to meet the therapeutic needs of an ever changing population which includes geriatric and handicapped inmates.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing with inmates and staff.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
Additional Considerations Advance knowledge and skills in Therapeutic Recreation, Physical Education or related field.
A combination of training and experience.
Direct experience working as a Recreation Supervisor or Recreational Therapist and/or planning group and individual recreation programs.
Experience in a Correctional or Law Enforcement environment.
