Description:
Create a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of support through foundation and governmental grants; corporate donations and sponsorships, individual gifts, special events, and other development initiatives; oversight of all development efforts.
Oversee and craft overall donor communication and key stakeholder messaging in support of annual and capital campaign efforts, as well as special initiatives.
Oversee donor management system and proper recording and recognition of gifts in Patron Manager.
Ensure procedures are updated and executed to guide timeliness and accuracy of efforts and the management of gifts with integrity and care.
Ensure departmental policies and procedures are updated and used to guide decisions with regard to all development efforts.
Update and/or create new policies and procedures as circumstances arise.
Oversee and strengthen planned giving program to raise awareness and effectively promote planned giving opportunities to constituents to support annual, capital, and endowment needs.
Oversee corporate sponsorship campaign, and annual campaign efforts, including but not limited to Director's Circle campaign, Encore Giving, Board campaign, Give Roanoke, Giving Tuesday, alumni solicitations, and season announce campaign.
Oversee and conduct overall annual grant administration efforts, including foundation research grant writing, active pursuit of funding opportunities; and preparation and management of grant applications and reports.
Oversee and manage all efforts with regard to campaigns or special fundraising initiatives.
Efforts include but are not limited to developing overall strategy, timeline development, budgeting, prospect management, staffing, and guidance in the execution of all activities.
Manage a portfolio of donors to include individual donors and prospective donors, corporations, foundations, and grantors.
Understand and communicate the immediate and long-term financial needs and mission of Jefferson Center to constituents.
Lead efforts to engage board of directors in fundraising efforts.
Serve as staff liaison for the board development committee and the alumni committee, and other committees, as appropriate, such as campaign committees.
Supervise and ensure proper training, development and quality of work for fund development department , including recommendations for hire, preparation of annual goals, staff development, performance reviews, work assignments, workflow management, recommendations for promotions, merit compensation increases and termination.
Approve requests for leave for direct report staff.
Develop annual operating budget for fund development activities; monitor and control expenditures; provide recommendations for income generation.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Extensive knowledge of fund development practices, principles, and funding sources.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or advanced degree.
Minimum of ten years recent work experience in development preferably in a non-profit environment and/or college setting.
Substantial background in fundraising, annual giving, capital campaign, major gifts, grants administration, sponsorships, and events.
Minimum of five years supervisory experience.
