The OSP Engineer I is an entry level position that is responsible for performing general outside plant engineering for telecommunication networks.
The OSP Engineer I determines cable routes, processes permits, obtains easements, and designs networks and system re-routes.
The OSP Engineer I also provides support to the construction and operations teams.
Qualification Requirements:
a.
Education: AS degree in a relevant engineering or technology field is desired.
Other candidates with a strong technical background and substantial industry or military experience will be considered.
b.
Hold a valid government issued driver’s license.
c.
Experience Level:
i.
0-2 years of experience in outside plant engineering disciplines to include copper, coax, or fiber optic design.
ii.
2-3 years of construction experience preferred.
iii.
2-3 years of telecommunications industry experience preferred.
d.
Special Requirements:
i.
Project management experience
ii.
Able to interpret technical material and blue prints with knowledge of fiber optic technology
e.
Skill Requirements:
i.
Detail oriented and strong organizational skills
ii.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
iii.
Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Knowledge of:
a.
Outside plant networks (copper, coax, fiber, ancillary optics)
b.
Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, Visio, Mapcom, LodeData or other network mapping and design tools.
