Overview:
The Sunquest Clinical Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS) Analyst is a member of an Information Services team specializing in the installation and support of Laboratory Department clinical applications.
Responsibilities:
Performs the following with occasional supervision:
Handles file maintenance and updates software accurately, in a timely manner, and with minimal errors.
This may include changes and new tests.
Tests and verifies software provided in the newest software release.
Performs this operation in the Test area prior to Support moving it to the Production area.
Maintains detailed documentation of testing.
Performs daily, weekly, monthly, and annual system checks.
Acts as liaison between the laboratory and other departments regarding computer system development and problems.
Is responsible for assisting with database management and customization.
Diagnoses and prevents errors and notifies repair personnel.
Monitors system performance statistics to ensure that changes are performed within standards.
Interfaces:
Participates and completes specifications and vendor requirements for new interfaces.
Performs testing with other IT departments to test new interfaces and interface changes.
Documents Testing.
Project Management:
Assists senior team members with project management to meet deadlines, while learning project management skills.
Begins to take ownership of small projects from start to completion.
Planning and Administrative skills:
Provides input for LIS policies and procedures for both inter- and intra-departmental functions.
Reviews and, if necessary, revises the policies and procedures of the laboratory information system, assuring compliance with various regulatory agency standards.
System Analysis:
Defines business/maintenance problems or changes and developing conceptual solutions to solve these with occasional supervision.
Develops detailed, accurate, complete, cost-effective and resource-conservative design solutions that cleanly integrate with existing products and provide an easy path for future enhancements, by examining all possible courses of action and displaying sound logic and reasoning to arrive at an optimum solution with occasional supervision.
Maintenance:
Produces accurate modifications to LIS consistent with the agreed to design.
This includes adhering to LIS and subsystem standards, using properly structured programming techniques, completing clear documentation internally and externally, and avoiding data and documentation side effects.
Develops complete and accurate structured system acceptance test plans.
Training/Education:
Shadows other team members to learn the system, policies, and procedures.
Demonstrates initiative and participates in iMentor and other training programs.
Keeps current with information on new developments, techniques, and methods regarding laboratory services, computer hardware, and software.
New Development:

Qualifications:
Required Work Experience:
3 to 6 years experience with increasing responsibility in the implementation, configuration, deployment, maintenance and ongoing support of information systems, laboratory computer applications.
Preferred Work Experience:
Proficient with Sunquest (LIMS)/minimum of two years experience.
Work experience or detailed understanding of operations in a clinical setting or discipline.
Understanding of the healthcare information system environment.
Required Education:
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Medical Technology or other related field desired.
Preferred Education:
Knowledge of and basic experience with project management life cycle and the project management techniques.
