Department: Data Center Technologies Reports to: Director of Business Excellence and Project Control We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cost Estimator to join our team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing various factors to estimate the costs associated with manufacturing HVAC products for the Data Center market.
This role is crucial in helping the company make informed decisions about production processes, pricing, and budgeting.
The Cost Estimator plays a critical role in ensuring profitability through the analysis of product costs, maintaining up-to-date costing tools, and identifying areas for enhancement.
They adhere to established engineering principles to develop efficient manufacturing sequences that meet quality and cost standards while optimizing equipment utilization.
Additionally, they propose and implement process revisions, monitor compliance, and collaborate with various departments to optimize costing standards for pricing models, including Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Service, and Sales.
The ideal candidate will be an intellectually curious strategic thinker with a background in manufacturing costing and project estimation, along with experience in customer-facing roles and successful process adoption.
Reporting to the Director of Business Excellence and Project Control, they will collaborate closely with local management team members, serving as the company's expert in cost estimating.
Duties and Responsibilities: Collaborate with factory management to analyze labor, material, and overhead costs.
Analyze blueprints, specifications, and documentation to prepare estimates for time, cost, materials, and labor.
Assess the cost-effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as projects develop.
Gather and analyze historical data on manufacturing costs and operational efficiencies.
Keep abreast of market trends and material costs.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and manufacturing teams to understand technical aspects of manufacturing.
Prepare detailed reports or bids for submission to management and clients.
Assist in setting budgets for manufacturing projects and monitor costs, adjusting budgets or estimates as necessary.
Recommend cost reduction strategies without compromising quality.
Develop and refine cost-estimating methods and procedures.
Maintain and improve product cost estimating tools.
Estimate costs for new products and custom product quotes.
Analyze and prepare reports on the difference between actual production costs and projected costs.
Assist the scheduling department in estimating production times and staffing requirements.
Identify cost reduction opportunities using knowledge of manufacturing processes.
Document feedback from key stakeholders and adjust cost models accordingly.
Participate in cross-functional project teams to identify process improvements and implement changes to cost models as needed.
Contribute to Kaizen projects focused on improving processing time, quality, and cost.
Prepare documentation such as cost models, margin analysis, and ERP reports.
Track and report cost savings results from project teams.
Collaborate with manufacturing and cost savings experts across Munters factories.
Qualifications & Skills: Proven experience as a cost estimator in the HVAC industry or related manufacturing sector.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects concurrently.
Proficient in problem-solving using knowledge of processes and systems.
Motivated, confident, and persistent in meeting project goals.
Excellent communication skills, both internally and externally.
Knowledge of large equipment manufacturing processes.
Strong in data and operations analysis.
Expertise in MS Excel and working knowledge of ERP systems.
Experience in operational management, project management, manufacturing engineering, and finance preferred.
Familiarity with systems used across the value chain from sales to delivery.
Open to change and committed to continuous improvement.
Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and integrity.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize tasks effectively in high-pressure environments.
Proficient in cost-estimating software, MS-Project, and MS Office Suite.
Willingness and ability to travel as required.
BA/BS in Business Management, Accounting, Engineering, or related field.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be qualifying.
