Position Summary Branch Civil is searching for an experienced and safety-oriented Roller Operator to join our well-established, growing company.
The Roller Operator operates controls to guide the machine in making successive overlapping passes over the material to be compacted.
The operator determines the speed and direction of the machine based on knowledge of the compressibility of the material.
The Roller Operator operates self-propelled steel wheeled, rubber tired, sheep foot, vibratory, segmented, or other type roller to compact earth, subgrade, subbase, shoulder materials, or stone cover on surface treatment.
May also operate roller on bases and asphalt surfaces.
Greater operative skills are generally associated with the operation and control of finish surface rollers.

Duties/Responsibilities May be required to operate equipment in accordance with a Department approved method of compaction (roller pattern) May service equipment and make normal operating adjustments Routine fueling, lubrication and servicing Cleaning of equipment and work area Operate controls Compacting different materials Utilize different types of rollers Additionally, Fine Grade Roller Operators perform rolling of finish surface and possess techniques to obtain proper finish May perform other related duties Duties/Responsibilities Cont.
Qualifications Knowledge of construction techniques 1 to 3 years of heavy duty truck driving experience Working knowledge of OSHA regulations DOT experience preferred, but not required Competencies Dependability Productivity Quality Following Policies and Procedures Working Safely Travel Supervisory Responsibility Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear.
The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste and smell.
The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position which will typically involve 40+ hours a week.
Due to the nature of the job, the employee must be available on-call early/late hours to deal with delays, bad weather and emergencies at the job site.
