gov/facilities/catawba/ Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties The Buildings and Grounds Department provides services in support of the hospital’s Mission/Vision and Strategic Plan by providing physical plant services resulting in a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
A.
Performance Management • Expectations are clear, well communicated, and relate to the goals and objectives of the department or unit; • Staff receive frequent, constructive feedback, including interim evaluations as appropriate; • Staff have the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to accomplish goals; • The requirements of the performance planning and evaluation system are met and evaluations are completed by established deadlines with proper documentation; • Performance issues are addressed and documented as they occur.
• Safety issues are reviewed and communicated to assure a safe and healthy workplace and a reduction in work related absences.
B.
Lawn and Landscape Maintenance • Completion of routine lawn maintenance such as mowing, trimming, mulching, cleaning of sidewalks, parking lots and roadways.
• Contributor: All assigned mowing, trimming, roadways blown off, parking lots cleaned, mulched areas cleaned and floral beds weeded each week around Hospital complex and out lying buildings.
C.
Minor Corrective Maintenance Work Orders • Contributor: Completion of all work orders on accrual date.
This schedule will include only routine work orders issued during morning job assignments and work orders established as emergencies by the Buildings & Grounds Supervisor or Buildings & Grounds Superintendent.
D.
Preventive Maintenance Work Orders • Completion of Preventive Maintenance (PM) work orders by due date established by Buildings & Grounds Supervisor.
Work to be efficient and thorough.
Shop tickets are to be completed at the end of every workweek or as required to maintain a safe working environment.
Schedule is as follows: • Contributor: 95% of all PM Tickets completed and turned in within five work days or less.
E.
Routine Grounds Equipment Maintenance • All lawn care equipment is checked daily.
• Blades are sharpened weekly with oil changed on same schedule.
F.
Vehicle Fuels and Liquids • Monitors and issues vehicle fuel, oils, fluids, and coolants so that there are no reports of down time due to lack of these products.
G.
Snow and Ice Removal • Snow and Ice Removed from all sidewalks and roads by required date set by supervisor.
Schedule as follows: • Contributor: Snow and Ice is removed from all areas and pushed back from curbing at parking lots, entrance ways and roads within 24 hours of initial snow fall.
Minimum Qualifications Working knowledge of ground maintenance, ability to drive and operate mowers, tractors, heavy equipment, etc.
, ability to receive and follow oral and written instruction.
Working knowledge of the installation, repair and maintenance practices, equipment, and materials used in the assigned skilled trades areas including, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical repair, painting, HVAC/refrigeration repair, and/or grounds keeping; and some knowledge of the principles and practices of other trades areas.
Working skill in the use of a variety of diagnostic tools, instruments and equipment, hand, and power tools.
Demonstrated ability to perform a variety of repairs and maintenance tasks in the assigned trades and utilities areas, to perform heavy manual labor, and to work from heights.
Additional Considerations Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions.
