Position Summary
The Superintendent is jointly responsible with the Project Manager for the overall success of any project.
They are responsible for scheduling, controlling costs, and managing resources on an assigned project.
They also provide continuous hands-on field supervision of all construction operations.
The Superintendent aims to attain or exceed profit goals and promotes workplace safety while meeting or exceeding company expectations.
They also promote a positive company image and is the leader on ever project, ultimately responsible for its operation success.
Duties/Responsibilities Builds and sees through project in accordance with all project contract documents, plans, and specifications Ensures compliance with all building codes, local ordinances, and company guidelines Becomes thoroughly familiar with project contract documents, payment methods, plans, specifications, subcontracts, purchase orders, shop drawings, key dates, liquidated dates, and all other documents relevant to the project Inspects job site and documents any preexisting conditions Ensures accurate layout of work in accordance with project plans and specifications and verifies same Responsible for maintaining professional relations with company owner, the project engineer, and all other members of the construction team Ensures that appropriate parties are notified regarding changes or concerns in the construction plan Participates in pricing of changed/additional work With the Project Manager, the Superintendent develops/updates a Grand Plan/Schedule of operation and effectively communicates this plan to employees.
Ensures that appropriate parties are informed regarding major changes in the construction plan, schedule, means, and methods or allocation of resources Identifies, measures, and reports to PM work changes as they pertain to contract documents.
Participates in pricing of changed/additional work.
Documents, or delegates documentation, or all additional work performed via daily reports/Superintendent’s diaries Duties/Responsibilities Cont.
In concert with the Project Manager, and prior to beginning work, develops a Grand Plan/Schedule of operation and effectively communicates to all employees.
Reviews schedule during project to ensure deadlines are met, notifies appropriate parties of all delays or potential delays, and documents delays.
With the PM, makes sure than schedule is updated.
Participates in the preparation and communication of construction execution plan, progress schedule, and projection of labor and equipment requirements Efficiently allocates, utilizes, and documents resources Supervises subcontractors (if applicable) to ensure quality and schedule requirements Organizes all trades in relation to project schedule Practices good construction and safety techniques Keeps work in process to a minimum and embraces the concept of Done, Done, Done Clearly conveys potential risks and areas of concern to the PM.
Works in concert with the PM to resolve conflicts and mitigate risks Constantly monitors and evaluates costs and analyzes same for improvements Investigates and reports all incidents/near misses to Safety Department, management, and Owner/GC/Customer (if required) Qualifications Strong leadership and organizational skills Ability to make decisions in high pressure environment Acts with professional, ethical mannerisms Demonstrates strong critical thinking and analysis Demonstrates a creative, innovative approach to work Understands building systems and their interface with each other Master’s license in related trade (if applicable) High School Diploma or Equivalent Working knowledge in standards, specifications, codes, regulations, and laws 8-10 years’ experience in construction 3-5 years’ experience in supervisory position High School level mathematic and language skills Valid Driver’s License/Maintain Branch Group “Approved Driver” status Genuine concern & sense of urgency Ability to keep up morale on the job Competencies Strong Relationships Ownership and Accountability Exceptionalism in all we do Interpersonal Skills Customer Service People Management Problem Solving/Analysis Work Environment/Safety Driving for Results Travel Travel is frequently required to and from job site locations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
They will need to stand (approximately 60%), walk (approximately 30%), and sit (approximately 10%).
The employee will also need to be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, feel, talk, and hear.
The employee will need to be able to carry up to 75 lbs.
