*SCB Senior Construction Inspector Position Description *
*Responsibilities: *
* Monitor contractor operations to ensure compliance with plans, contract terms and specifications
* Coordinate and schedule various phases of construction inspection with the prime contractor and other agencies
* Review and monitors contractors' plan of operation including MOT
* Advise contractors of violations and recommend adjustments to operations
* Recommend changes to construction plans to meet field conditions
* Make field measurements of pay items and conduct materials testing
* Maintains and review comprehensive project records including daily diaries, materials notebooks, as-built plans, pay quantity records, progress schedules, work orders, and monthly estimates.
*Required Skills & Required Experience: *
* Minimum of 5 years of roadway and bridge construction experience
* Working knowledge of mathematics including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
* Ability to use Microsoft Office Suites
* Ability to read and interpret roadway, bridge, and utility plans and contract specifications
* Experience in the design, construction, or inspection of driven pile foundations
* Considerable knowledge of bridge and roadway construction methods, materials, standards and specification
* Ability to apply mathematical formulas and engineering principles to determine field adjustments
* Ability to communicate effectively with agency and contractor personnel and the general public.
* Material concrete and soil field testing as needed

* VDOT Soils & Aggregate Field Compaction
* ACI Concrete Field Technician
* Erosion and Sediment Control
