GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs, under limited supervision, skilled electrical work and repair involved in maintaining school structures and equipment.
ESSENTIAL TASKS

Performs a full range of journeyman level electrical tasks including installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems, and estimating material requirements.
Coordinates work load to assure work orders are completed in a safe and timely manner.
Coordinates and assists with installation of electrical equipment.
Works with and inspect work of contractors.
Plans work in accordance with drawings, sketches, or blueprints and own knowledge of construction.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Manager of Building Maintenance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge and understanding of building codes, shop and machine safety, fire codes, and OSHA requirements as required by the trade.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings.
Ability to use all standard electrical installation and test equipment.
Ability to effectively work in a crew and maintain good working relations with the crew and others.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent.
Virginia Journeyman or Master Electrician license.
Four year accredited electrician apprenticeship or equivalent.
Ability to work alone or as a member of a crew in either a shop situation or at a work site.
Extensive knowledge of standard practices, tools, and terminology of the skilled trade of electricity.
Strength and dexterity necessary to perform all required tasks, including lifting, stooping, bending, working in tiring and uncomfortable positions, and from ladders, scaffolds, etc.
Must have current Virginia driver’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to remember repetitive, step by step task completion, stay alert to time requirements for task completion, recognize and recall safety requirements for electrical work.
WORK ENVIRONNMENT
Involves work in both inside and outside work environments with both controlled temperature settings and hot or cold temperature extremes can exist.
Physical hazards exist in using hand and power tools and equipment.
High risk working in electrical energy changed situations/environments.

Must have current Virginia driver's license.
