Position Summary
The Estimator accurately interprets contract documents and provides quality estimates for each project.
Effectively use technology, experience, and developed skills to assist in the acquisition of highly desirable work that ensures growth in the company’s backlog and profit margin.
Will receive cross-training in sheet metal estimation and electrical estimation.
The successful candidate should have experience in ductwork and/or sheet metal Estimating.
Duties/Responsibilities
Assists Chief Estimator in the performance of risk/benefit analysis that includes identification of risks and opportunities.
Provides input to Chief Estimator regarding possible sources of work and best available bidding opportunities.
Reads and interprets plans and specifications of proposed work to understand scope of work and contractual obligations.
Advises and assists Chief Estimator on systems improvements/upgrades that will ensure competitive bids based on meaningful, accurate data.
Assists in database maintenance.
Cultivates relationships with competent contractors and vendors to ensure preferred pricing.
Conducts occasional pre-bid site visits to document by photographs, video, or other means, unusual site conditions.
Makes basic quantity takeoffs and presents data.

Researches and develops new methods for improving how we put together cost estimates.
Maximizes profit opportunities.
Assures that the pricing of external resources is accurate and based on current availability.
Clearly and decisively makes decisions in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Higher Education Degree NOT required.
Completion of the 12th grade (or equivalent)
Some Construction experience is preferred.
Prior experience with an electrical/mechanical contractor is a plus, but not a requirement
Some knowledge of electrical construction markets and estimating procedures is preferred.
Effective communication skills
Computer literacy with flexibility for continuous computer education.
Good customer service skills
