Do you have advanced mechanical and troubleshooting skills? We have an excellent opportunity for a Technical Equipment Specialist to work onsite at our manufacturing facility in Roanoke.
This is a hands-on role responsible for evaluating existing and new manufacturing process equipment and systems; developing designs and making recommendations for improvements and enhancements; and leading the acquisition, construction, modification and commissioning of machinery, tooling, control systems and support apparatus, particularly for process equipment associated with the production of extruded/drawn mill products.
Day shift Monday - Friday
Responsibilities Include:
Maintain, set up, troubleshoot and/or repair manufacturing equipment
Specify, design, quote and/or provide cost estimate breakdowns for new or modified production equipment to meet the needs of the business
Install and commission new/modified production equipment
Oversee/performs electrical and mechanical upgrades/repairs on machinery
Communicate with equipment manufacturers/reps
Recommend spare parts inventories
Specialize in overall machine or system troubleshooting in terms of malfunction and breakdown
Communicate with vendor and other industry experts on equipment implementation and installation
Create and maintain equipment operating manuals/work instructions, schematics and associated documentation
Train employees on equipment operations
Recommend spare parts inventories associated with production equipment
Support safety programs and keep workplace clean and safe.
Avoid shortcuts that increase the risk of accidents, personal injuries and equipment failures.
Make recommendations when appropriate.
Prioritize work demands and manage time and workload effectively
Work collaboratively with others throughout the organization to achieve results
Build and maintain relationships and work effectively with vendors and employees of all levels
Required Skills and Experience:
5 years relevant manufacturing experience
3+ years industrial equipment maintenance experience (i.
e.
electronics, PLCs, pneumatics and hydraulics)
Technical Degree preferred
Advanced SolidWorks skills
Ability to schedule and manage complex projects
Ability to design simple to complex machine components
Advanced mechanical skills and ability with hand tools
Ability to use problem-solving techniques to identify and eliminate root problems
Track record of producing work that is highly accurate and demonstrates attention to detail
Ability to build and maintain relationships and work effectively with vendors and employees of all levels
Physical and work condition demands of the position:
Frequent lifting of 25 to 50 pounds
Ability to climb ladders and stairs
Frequent turning, twisting, stooping, bending, and reaching
