Basic Function: Supports the development and refinement of manufacturing processes in order to allow for continuous improvement to existing cable designs and product as well as contribute to the ability to design and make new, cutting edge cable products.
Significant Responsibilities: Performs specific job responsibilities: Sets-up manufacturing processes for effective production, monitors processes for continual improvement and troubleshoots processes to ensure quality Creates and maintains documentation of manufacturing processes for set ups and production procedures Solves problems related to extrusion and cable manufacturing with a controlled approach that is both effective and timely Assists the process-engineering department in the selection and optimization of manufacturing equipment, layout and workflow.
Assists with new product development, new material introduction and new process introduction.
Promotes OCC’s service excellence and quality.

Job Scope: Organizational Responsibility - Supports the Process Engineering Manager and the Production team Communication - Regular communication, verbal and written, with employees and managers Confidentiality - Maintain the confidential nature of OCC's production and product work Financial Responsibility - Ensure that processes are set up in the most efficient use of resources Judgment - Identify and recommend solutions for manufactruing process issues Compliance - Adhere to ISO, OSHA, MIL and other standards as appropriate Flexibility to provide support to night shift as needed Embraces cross training within all processes Demonstrates strong technical writing skills Travel - Little to none Minimum Qualifications Required: Education: Associate’s degree in Mechatronics related field and/or or 3 to 5 years relevant experience; or an appropriate combination of education (Associates) with technical experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Physics or Polymer Engineering desirable.
Experience: Demonstrated experience in cabling, extrusion processes, general mechanical aptitude and an understanding of materials properties Licensure, Certification and/or Registration: Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective communication skills, both oral and written; attention to detail and organization; strong computer skills Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge: Technical skills are required in order to understand and manage process design and effectiveness The position will require an individual with good problem solving skills, technical writing skills, communication skills and the ability to deal with people in an effective and professional manner.
Will handle regular, effective communications with all levels of production and engineering staff.
Excellent computer skills – at least 50% of the work will be on a computer with a variety of software – Word, Excel, Access and SysPro The individual will need to be able to manage multiple tasks on a tight schedule.
Much of the work will be time critical to support both order entry and order release.
Working Conditions: Job duties requires engineering work, ambulation in office, testing laboratory, manufacturing plant, customer facility, and on-site installation working environments.
This is partially sedentary job which requires sight sufficient for significant computer use and reading.
Also normal work responsibilities call for nominal levels of physically demanding efforts characterized by walking and standing some of the day and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.
This work also requires an individual with hearing sufficient for dealing with external agencies/vendors, interacting with employees, conducting meetings, as well as for significant telephone contact.
The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
