Position Summary
The Electrician is responsible for planning the layout, installing, and repairing wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.
Duties/Responsibilities
Plans new or modified installation to minimize waste of material
Provide access for future maintenance and avoid unsightly, hazardous or unreliable wiring consistent with specifications, local and national electrical codes.
Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings and flooring.
Measures, cuts, bends, threads, and assembles and installs electrical conduit using tools such as hacksaw, pipe threader and conduit bender.
Pulls wiring through conduit assisted by helper.
Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads using knife or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment using hand tools.
Duties/Responsibilities Cont.
Installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts using hand tools and power tools.
Connects power cables to equipment such as electric range or motor and installs grounding leads.
Tests circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components using various testing instruments.
Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement.
May repair faulty equipment or systems.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalency
High School level language (writing/speaking/listening) and mathematical skills
Up to 4+ years of prior Electrician experience

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
They will need to stand (approximately 60%), walk (approximately 30%), and sit (approximately 10%).
The employee will also need to be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, feel, talk, and hear.
The employee will need to be able to carry up to 75lbs, lift up to 100lbs, and move up to 200lbs.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, midrange vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position which typically requires 40 hours per week.
