Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Corrosion Operations Technician II/Sr/Lead out of the Rocky Mount, VA area.
This role will safely operate, troubleshoot, perform maintenance and complete repairs on compressor units, pipelines, and associated appurtenances and equipment, as well as perform basic to moderate corrosion related tasks and projects.
Your tasks and responsibilities include:
Operate, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance and major repairs of pipelines and appurtenances, natural gas engines, electric motors, dehydration equipment, auxiliary equipment and gas compressors
Monitor availability of compressor units.
Record readings (pressures, temperatures, volumes, run hours, etc.
) and record them as appropriate.
Operate manual and automated controls on compressor units to optimize compressor throughput
Perform pipeline maintenance tasks such as leak surveys, leak repair, methanol injection, pigging, valve maintenance, and troubleshooting pipeline restriction and obstructions.
Monitor pipeline data to identify potential operational issues
Conduct required surveys and complete accurate records on DOT regulated pipelines.
Also, provide inspection on DOT reportable pipeline construction projects
Assist in ensuring required pipeline and facility surveillances and inspections are completed on time.
Maintain all required records for the district
Conduct tests on bare pipelines to determine condition of line.
Submit recommendations to rectify deficiencies to gain compliance
Conduct bi-monthly and annual inspections on rectifiers and interference bonds.
Troubleshoot and correct problems, as needed
Test all aboveground piping annually for atmospheric corrosion, including compressor station piping
Conduct inspections and maintains recordkeeping for both external and internal corrosion reports from leak repairs
Conduct tests to identify electrical interference problems on cathode protection systems and correct as needed
Participate in on-call rotation
Ability to work flexible hours and travel to various operating locations as necessary
May perform other duties in another classification, as directed

More specifically related to this position, Equitrans Midstream Corporation seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
A high school diploma or GED.
An associate degree in electronics, or a vocational certification in electrical/electronics is preferred
At least three years of related mechanical experience is needed for the Corrosion Operations Technician II role.
The Sr technician role requires at least five years related mechanical experience, with two years of related natural gas experience.
The Lead technician role at least seven years of combined experience in corrosion and natural gas.
Successful completion of NACE General Corrosion Program, or similar program on general corrosion principles
Knowledge of: Federal Regulations Parts 192 & 195, gas engine and compression fundamentals, valve operations and fluid maintenance operations
Working knowledge of basic equipment and resources: gas trac, combustible gas indicator, pipeline locator, topographical maps and schematics, P&ID's and blueprints
Basic knowledge of computer software packages and equipment.
Basic knowledge of mathematics and electricity.
Valid driver's license and ability to meet all requirements of insurability under Equitrans’ insurance policy
Ability to pass a physical capabilities test (which includes, but is not limited to lifting and carrying 70 lbs.
, walking 1/2 mile at various inclines, etc.
) to demonstrate the physical ability to perform the essential functions of this job
Successful completion of applicable Operator Qualification training
The anticipated salary range for the Corrosion Operations Technician positions is $40.
09/hr to $51.
25/hr plus a total rewards package that includes:
