About this role The Supplier Quality Engineer intern role within Group Trucks Purchasing provides engineering students the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment.
The Supply Network Quality department is driving the global supplier base towards premium automotive quality standards.
Our department is responsible for continuously improving the supplier base and the quality of purchased parts.
In this role you are expected to support technical manufacturing activities that ensure a continuous flow of quality parts from our supply chain to our North America Plants.
You will be spending a large portion of your time out on the manufacturing plant floor! This internship will be based onsite at our Salem, VA location, and will run from May 13th - August 9th, 2024.
Interns may be eligible for a monthly housing stipend under certain circumstances.
What you will do Help to minimize disturbances in our supply chain by steering improvements Assist in securing that suppliers are delivering according to Volvo’s specifications Serve as an interface between our operation plants and suppliers during running production Utilize Microsoft tools to create reports and dashboards Manage activities related to supplier relationships (meetings, documents, feedback, etc.
) Support Supplier Quality Engineers in their day-to-day activities Utilize engineering fundamentals by analyzing key components of the supply chain (suppliers, processes, etc.

In this role, you will bring: Organized and agile in your way of working, with a continuous improvement mindset Team-player focused Developed written and verbal communication skills Skilled in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word) Experience with Power Bi and Power Automate is a plus Minimum Requirements Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering.
Your degree must be at an accredited school and you need to have completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship.
Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.
